Hello! I'm Jaclyn Yuki Schlanger
I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist with a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from California State University Northridge. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and am of half Asian and half European American heritage. I was an art teacher for over a decade before making my transition into the world of therapy, and I have extensive experience working with people of all cultures and ages.
I specialize in self-esteem and identity work, while helping you reflect on the person that you truly are. By forming a stronger understanding of your personal values, likes, dislikes, and various personality aspects, you can strengthen your identity from within. This can help with depression and anxiety, as identity formation and understanding can be affected by many events that occur in your day to day life. I especially enjoy working with adolescents, teens, and young adults.
I also enjoy working couples and families who are struggling in their relationships. I incorporate the practice of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), a highly effective method for healing relationships. EFT is a relatively short-term form of therapy that focuses on adult relationships and attachment bonding. We look at patterns in the relationship and take steps to create a more secure bond and develop more trust to move the relationship in a healthier, more positive direction. Research has shown that 70-75% of couples and families who participate in EFT become closer and more intimate in their relationships, and 90% show significant improvements.

Hi, I'm Jan Covyeau
I am a Registered Associate with an M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from the College of Psychology and Counseling at Hope International University. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in the corporate world over 25 years in the areas of education, sales, finance and most recently adoption. I discovered my passion for helping others in my role of Adoption Adviser in the emotionally charged adoption process. It is this passion and my own life challenges, healing and personal growth that served as the catalyst in my pursuit of becoming a therapist.
Entering this field later in life provided me with invaluable personal experiences which have played a key part in helping to better understand my clients and many of the issues they face. I have found my education and experience to be most effective in working with individuals, adolescents and couples that are facing various issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma or relational difficulties.
I recognize it takes courage and vulnerability to sit with a perfect stranger and share details about your life, relationships and struggles. I am a firm believer in that there is no issue or setback that is too large to overcome. Therapy is a gift you give yourself. It can truly transform your life and provide you with the opportunity to become your best self.
